i agree . a service would be the best thing for your car . only about 40 pounds in parts if u do it yourself .

Thanks for your replies guys, the car recently had new cat, lambda sensor and passed it's MOT

Since then the fuel economy slumped. I wonder if they done something at the garage.

When was it last serviced? and how many miles does it have on the clock?

 

Higher mileage cars need servicing more often than low mileage cars.

Hi I think I would be a bit worried if the economy has got that bad since having those parts fitted, have you got a genuine emissions pass?

I would be very doubtfull the emissions are within the limits if the consumption is that bad. :25:

The emissions pass is genuine though the garage advised me that i'd need to change my Airflow Mass Meter sometime soon, but this shouldn't make that much difference should it?

you can check the maf by having a little drive then unplug the maf (its onn the intake big pipe just unplugs) do a bit more driving and if its got more power your maf is dead if its worse your mafs ok. trouble with fords is that vagcom cant be used on them to check sensors out, im sure somewhere on here thers a guide to checking your maf.
